Jan 1     I went to church at N. Vernon this morning. We all ate dinner at Emmie's then went over home a little this evening. Home tonight.

Jan 2     W. Boner, W. Bertram and Albert helped shuck shock corn today. We finished today, all done now. Cloudy, drizzly warm day.

Jan 3     Father and I helped Emmie butcher today. Cold and cloudy day. Snowed a little last night.

Jan 4     Bess and I helped to finish the butchering at Emmie's today. Cold and cloudy day.

Jan 5     I hauled gravel in the barnyard today. Fair and warm day.

Jan 6     Albert and I hauled in corn fodder today. It is all in now. Fair warm day.

Jan 7     Nothing but chores done today. Snowed last night and all day.

Jan 8     I went to early mass at N. Vernon this morning. Home today. Fair cold day.

Jan 9     Nothing done today. Snowed all day.

Jan 10     Bess and I went to town this evening. I sit up with Jake Burgmeyer this night. They have twin babies and both died. Cold cloudy day.

Jan 11     I worked in the barn all day making door, 8 windows. Snowed and sleeted all last night. Rained all day today.

Jan 12     The same as yesterday. Cold cloudy day.

Jan 13     Nothing but chores done today. Cool cloudy day.

Jan 14     I hauled out manure on the wheat field this morning. This evening went down to the school house to elect the supervisor; Nick Keller elected. Fair cold day.

Jan 15     I went to early mass this morning. Home this evening. Walked to Zion Church tonight. Albert, Mike Simon and wife broke through ice and got wet. Fair cold day.

Jan 16     I hauled manure in the orchard this morning. Albert and Maw, Emmie Euler and family spent the day here. Fair cold day.

Jan 17     I hauled manure in the orchard today. Fair warmer day.

Jan 18     Father and I took load of corn to town. Brought home load of bran today. Fair warm day.

Jan 19     I hauled rock and gravel in to barnyard today. Warm, cloudy day.

Jan 20     Father and I took black Jersey cow to Four Corners, sold to Jackson this morning. Hauled 2 loads of posts from Martin Gerth the rest of day. Cold, cloudy day.

Jan 21     I hauled manure in orchard this morning. Hauled gravel and rock in barnyard this evening. Cool, cloudy day.

Jan 22     We are all home today. Joe and Sade were home today. Will Glixner and Flora spent the evening here. Cold, cloudy day.

Jan 23     I went home and got stone hammer this morning. Put in some underpinning behind the barn today. Cool, cloudy day.

Jan 24     Michael Gerth was buried today. Bess and I went to N. Vernon this evening. Cloudy, windy and very cold day.

Feb 9     I took Dick Gibbs to town to Joe's this morning. Pulled trees and brush out of Indian Creek this evening. Cold cloudy day. Roads are very slick.

Feb 10     Nothing done this morning. I chopped wood this evening. Fair and cold. Slick and icy.

Feb 28     Bess and I were at James Otis's sale today. I split wood this morning and evening fore and after sale. 5 ricks. Fair warm day. Very muddy.

Mar 1     I went over to Emmie's to build a privy and the creek is very deep fording. Fair warm day.

Mar 2     Same as yesterday. Cool cloudy day.

Mar 3     I finished Emmie's privy this morning. I went to town this evening. Fair warm day.

Mar 4     I wheeled wood in the wood house and ricked it up today. Fair warm day.

Mar 10     I hauled two loads of corn in hog house. Hauled remains of straw stack in barn this morning. This evening put in few tile across the road. Split wood the rest of the evening. Fair warm day.

Mar 11     I split wood and threw it in wood house this morning. Bess and I went to town this evening. Fair cool day.

Mar 12     We are home today. Joe and Sade were home today. Bess and I went to church tonight. Fair warm day.

Mar 13     Father and Mother went to old man Euler's funeral today. I hauled stove wood blocks and slabs today. Fair cool day.

Mar 14     I took load of wheat to town today. Fair warm day. I went to Seymour, Indiana with the Redmen to organize a tribe there tonight.

Mar 16     I finished splitting wood this morning. The wood is all made now. I put in few tile in the apple orchard this evening. Fair warm day.

Mar 27     Dick Gibbs left for Buffalo, New York today. I took Daisy to the veterinarian today to have blind teeth pulled. Fair warm day.

Mar 28     I plowed the garden potato patch. Fair very warm day.

Mar 29     We made garden and planted few potatoes today. Had a nice rain this evening about 3 o'clock.

Mar 30     I was repairing tile drain today. Fair and warm day.

Mar 31     I was digging up tile today. Fair warm day. This has been a nice month. The wheat and grass is hiding the ground. The trees are budding out and the potatoes are planted. Lots of oats sowed.

Apr 1     I repaired the hog lot fence this morning. Crushed corn this evening for feed. Fair warm day. Eddie bought the Leve(?) place of his father. They made the deed today.

Apr 2     Bess and I went to Four Corners to church and over home for dinner. Fair very warm day.

Apr 3     I was digging up tile today. Bess and I and Emmie and the children went to the Glee Club show tonight at N. Vernon. Fair warm day.

Apr 5     I took up tile this morning. I mashed corn stubs on the wheat field this evening. Cool cloudy day.

Apr 6     I was working in the tile ditch today. Cool cloudy little snowy storms today.

Apr 8     I crushed corn for feed this morning. Finished breaking corn stubs of the wheat this evening. Fair cool day.

Apr 9     Bess and I went to church this morning and night. Home today. Mrs. John Euler of N. Vernon was buried today. Fair warm day.

Apr 10     I repaired the stock cutter this morning. I began to cut stocks this evening in the Betsy Bottom. We had a nice rain about 2:30 this evening.

Apr 11     We are repairing some fence and pulling up some fence posts today. This is a cool went rainy day.

Apr 12     I was at Hillerman's sale today. Fair cool day.

Apr 13     I hauled manure on the corn ground today. Fair warm day.

Apr 15     I dragged down the weeds on the clover field to put to corn this morning. Cut stocks in the Betsy Bottoms this evening and began in the Sullivan Bottoms. Very cool cloudy day.

Apr 16     Palm Sunday. I went to church this morning. This is Palm Sunday. Emmie's folks were here today. Very cool and cloudy day.

Apr 17     I was cutting stocks in the Sullivan Bottom today. Cloudy very cool day.

Apr 18     We crushed corn this morning. Plowed in the tile ditches this evening. Fair and warm day. Forest Lattimore moved back to town today.

Apr 19     I began to plow for corn this morning. I finished cutting stocks this evening. Fair cool day.

Apr 20     I plowed in the Sullivan Bottoms today. Very windy cloudy and warm.

Apr 21     I repaired some fence this morning. I went to town this evening. Sade and Minnie came home with me. Had a hard rain last night and today noon.

Apr 22     Henry Burgmeyer helped me put in tile in the Sullivan Bottoms today. Fair cool day.

Apr 23     Easter. I went to Four Corners to church this morning. Took Sade and Minnie home this evening. Fair cool day.

Apr 24     I finished putting in the tile today. We put the calves on pasture today. Fair and warm day.

Apr 25     I plowed today. It sprinkled little rain all day. Bess went to town this evening.

Apr 26     I plowed in the Besty Bottom today. Cool cloudy day.

Apr 27     I am plowing today. Fair warm day. Carl Hillerman and Ethel Sullivan were married yesterday.

Apr 28     I finished plowing the Besty Bottom this morning. Plowed in Sullivan Bottom rest of day. Fair warm day. Had a hard rain at dark.

Apr 29     We were grinding feed and hauled load of corn for hogs and trimmed the pigs this morning. Took the cripple mare to Human horse this evening. Shivareed Carl Hilerman and Ethyl Sullivan tonight. Fair cool day.

Apr 30     I went to N. Vernon church this morning. Bess and I went over home for dinner. Then went back to town to church tonight. This is Forty Hour Devotion. Fair cool day. This has been a nice month to work. Lots of plowing done, the wheat and grass looks good.

May 1     I plowed today. Walter Boner and I went to N. Vernon church tonight. Fair warm day.

May 4     I plowed til about 3 p.m. then came a good rain. Made it too wet to plow.

May 7     Bess and I went to Corners to church this morning. Went to Uncle George's for dinner. Fair warm day.

May 8     I harrowed the Betsy Bottom this morning. Began to plant corn after dinner this is first plant this year. About 3 p.m. came a hard rain. Did not get done in that field.

May 9     I hauled manure today on corn ground. Bess went to town this evening. Fair cool day.

May 10     We had a hard rain this morning. The creek is out in the low bottoms this evening. This evening we cut poles for telephone on Sam Young's.

May 11     It still rains some today. The creek is bank full. Nothing but tinkering done today.

May 12     Nothing done today. Father and I went to town this evening. It rained very hard last night. The creek is all over the bottoms. Today very high.

May 13     Still wet and rainy nothing done. I took Kate to Human house this evening. May 14     Home this morning. M. Swarthout stayed here last night. Bess and I went to town this evening to see John Wolsiffer, he played ball there this evening. Cool rainy cloudy day.

May 15     I worked at little of everything today. The creek is past fording yet today. Cool cloudy day.

May 16     Henry Burgmeyer and I worked on the road today. Fair cool day.

May 24     I plowed in the upper Betsy Bottom today. Fair warm day.

May 25     I plowed this morning til 8:30, it began to rain all forenoon. Took up some barbed wire this evening. The creek tore out.

May 26     I took Lettie to the Human horse this morning. Plowed this evening. Fair cool day.

May 27     I finished plowing the upper Betsy Bottoms this morning. Harrowed the Betsy Bottom this evening. Fair warm day.

May 28     Bess and I went to Corners to church this morning. Home this evening. Fair warm day.

May 29     I planted the Betsy Bottoms this morning. At noon came a hard rain. Too wet to plow or harrow. Very warm day.

May 30     Decoration Day. Bess and I went to town today. Very warm and another hard rain this evening.

May 31     Father and I putting a new roof on the henhouse today. Fair and cool day. This has been a very wet month. There is very little corn planted so far. The wheat has been damaged by the wet weather.

Jun 1     I finished the henhouse roof this morning. Began to harrow in the upper Betsy Bottom. Fair cool day.

Jun 2     I picked cherries awhile, then finished harrowing in the upper Betsy this morning. This evening planted the upper Betsy Bottom. That field is all planted now. Fair warm day.

Jun 3     I plowed little in the Sullivan Bottoms this morning. This evening I began to harrow where the water was over it. Fair warm day.

Jun 4     I went to Corners to church this morning. Bess and I went over home this evening. Fair warm day.

Jun 5     I harrowed today with 4 horses in the Sullivan Bottom. Fair warm day.

Jun 20     I was out this morning, tried to get a man to shock wheat. I mowed some weeds this evening, cut wheat till about 5 o'clock, came a hard rain.

Jun 21     Bess and I went to town this morning. I cut wheat this evening. Very warm day.

Jun 22     I cut wheat today. Nick Keller is helping this evening. Warm cloudy day. Sade and Minnie come out today.

Jun 23     I finished cutting wheat this morning about 8 o'clock. Plowed corn till noon. It began to rain some. Patched the roof on the barn this evening.

Jun 24     I tried to plow corn this morning but it was too wet. Loaded load of corn. Went to town this evening. Fair warm day.

Jun 25     Bess and I and Grace Euler went to town to church this morning. The children went to communion. Home this evening. Had ice cream this evening. Fair, very hot.

Jun 26     I plowed corn for the second time in the Betsy Bottom today. Cloudy warm day.

Jun 27     I finished plowing the corn for the second time in the Betsy today. Began for the first time in the Sullivan Bottom. Fair cool day.

Jun 30     I plowed corn today the corn is all plowed over once and the Betsy Bottom twice. The corn looks good but is small. There is little corn laid by so far. The wheat is all cut. Charlie Cammel started out thrashing today. This has been a nice month, had some rain.

Jul 1     I fixed little fence this morning and loaded load of corn. Father went to town. I mowed weeds and helped the pump repairs repair the well pump this evening. Bess and I went to Four Corners to the picnic. Albert came home from Illinois tonight. Warm cloudy day.

Jul 2     I went to town this morning. Brought Albert home with me. Bess, I and Albert went home for dinner. Cloudy and hot little sprinkle of rain.

Jul 3     It was too wet to plow corn today. I picked 42 quarts of blackberries today. Fair cool day.

Jul 4     We delivered 5 head of cattle to Lovett this morning. Bess and I went to town to the Fourth this evening. Fair warm day.

Jul 5     I began to lay by corn in the Betsy Bottom today. Fair warm day.

Jul 6     I plowed corn in Betsy Bottom til 2 o'clock came a hard rain, made it too wet to plow. Father helped David Childs thrash this morning. Warm and cloudy day.

Jul 7     It was too wet to plow corn this morning so I hauled manure. Finished laying by corn in the Betsy Bottom this evening. Cool cloudy day.

Jul 8     We went over to Lawrence's to thrash this morning. It began to rain. Came home and plowed corn this evening. Wet cool and cloudy day.

Jul 9     Bess is sick today, we are home all day. I went over to church tonight. Warm cloudy day.

Jul 10     Father and I trimmed hedge this morning. Helped Lawrence thrash this evening. Hot cloudy, little rain.

Jul 11     About 6 o'clock I tore the driveway bridge out of the barn. Today I put in a dirt bridge. Still rain some today.

Jul 12     We shelled corn and ground it for chicken feed this morning. This evening helped Imley's thrash. Cloudy little rain today.

Jul 13     I helped Emmie and Charlie Woodard thrash today. Cloudy warm day.

Jul 14     I helped James Marsh thrash today. Very hot day.

Jul 15     I laid by corn in Sullivan Bottom till 4 o'clock went over home to help thrash. Did not get done. Very hot and cloudy day.

Jul 16     I went to Corners to church this morning. Came home Bess and I went over to Emmie's this evening. Very hot day.

Jul 21     This is a wet rainy day. Bess and I went to N. Vernon this evening.

Jul 22     I took load of corn to town this morning. Hauled in hay this evening. Fair and cool day.

Aug 8     Eddie Stewart got married this morning. Bess and I went to see them married. He went to Illinois on a trip. Helped Henry Burgmeyer thrash this evening. Very hot day.

Aug 9     We helped Henry thrash this morning. We thrashed this evening. 3.85 bushels wheat. Very hot day.

Aug 10     We helped Bill Boner thrash this morning. Came a hard rain at noon. Thrashed Sam Young this evening out of barn. Cool wet day.

Aug 11     I started to plow for wheat this morning. Quit it was too wet. Went to help Anthony Gaughan thrash but it began to rain. Didn't thrash this evening.

Aug 12     Father and I trimmed hedge for the 3rd time this morning. I took Mother to the doctor this evening. Very hot day.

Aug 13     I went to Corners to church this morning. Home this evening. Bess and I went to Zion Church tonight. Very hot and cloudy day. Bess' Uncle Frank Gannon died this morning.

Aug 14     Nothing but chores and tinkering done today. Had a very hard rain this morning. It is too wet to plow or cut weeks of clover. The creek is out in low bottoms.

Aug 15     Mowed few weeds today, to wet to do anything much. The back water came out in the bottoms last night. Warm cloudy day.

Aug 16     Bess and I went to Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, Michigan today. We took a boat ride on Lake Michigan. The train left at 6:30 and got to N. Vernon at 3:30a.m. Fair cool day.

Aug 17     I mowed weeds off the clover in wheat field today. Fair warm day.

Aug 18     I hauled telephone poles along the road this morning. We helped Emmie Euler thrash oats this evening. Did not get done. Fair very warm day.
